What is a UPC Barcode?
UPC Barcodes are the most common type of retail barcode used in North America. These are 12 digit barcodes which are used on all products except for books and magazines. While both UPC and EAN-13 barcodes can technically be used overseas, if you are mainly selling your product in North America, we recommend that you use a UPC barcode. You can see the difference between UPC and EAN-13 barcodes here.
How to get a UPC Barcode?
UPC Barcodes can be easily purchased in barcode packages here. once an order is received you will be emailed your barcode number and the images usually within a couple of hours, or the next morning at the latest. You can then simply incorporate one of the images into your product packaging. When a retailer receives the product for the first time they will scan the barcode into their system and input the product information at this stage. From that point onwards every time the barcode is scanned the product information automatically appears.
